In addition, there can be the opportunity to complete intakes, and provide supportive therapy.

The IMPACT Program model is an evidence-based practice designed for older adults with depression, anxiety and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Short-term cognitive behavioral therapy/problem solving therapy is provided at Older Adult Mental Health, West County Adult Mental Health and East County Adult Mental Health to older adults with co-occurring medical diagnoses, such as diabetes, cardio-vascular disease, and/ or chronic pain, who additionally are experiencing symptoms of moderate to severe depression, anxiety or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Partners in Aging is a new program funded through Mental Health Services Act Innovation Funds designed to expand the IMPACT Program. This program consists of a multi-disciplinary team, which includes a Geropsychiatrist, Mental Health Clinicians, and Community Support Workers. The intern will gain experience in several areas, including providing intakes and therapy to older adults using the IMPACT model.
