Help Prepare Your Community for a Public Health Emergency

What:

Volunteers are needed to assist Contra Costa Health Services and other Bay Area health departments in conducting a regional emergency preparedness exercise next month at the Oakland McAfee Coliseum. The event will help local health departments prepare to rapidly provide medication to a large number of people during a major health emergency. Volunteers are needed to act as "mock" patients. No actual medications or vaccines will be distributed at the exercise. Free Continuing Education Units and refreshments will be provided.

Who:

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and have a valid California ID.

When & Where:

The exercise will take place 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19 at the Oakland McAfee Coliseum Complex (East Arena), 7000 Coliseum Way, Oakland. The Coliseum is accessible via the Coliseum/Oakland Airport stop on BART. Free parking also will be available.

How:

The deadline for volunteers to sign up is 5 p.m. Thursday, March 12. To sign up, contact Donna Mann at dmann@hsd.cccounty.us or 925-313-6751.

Why:

The purpose of the exercise is to strengthen the public health response of Bay Area Health Departments during a regional catastrophic health emergency.
